Story guidelines:
  1. Write your story in Microsoft Word, or other compatible word processor. This will make the formatting of your story much easier for yourself and the editor, and the software usually has tools (i.e., spell-check, grammar-check) that will help you in your writing. These guidelines assume Microsoft Word is used, but if you have other software that can do the same thing, just translate to your software's method. If you don't have "one o' them fancy writin' tools", use Notepad, Wordpad, or other text editor. As a last resort, type your story into an email.

  2. Use "Verdana" font, 12pt, for the entire document. The only exception to this is if you are quoting a chat room dialog, for which you can use "Courier New" to set it off from the rest.

  3. Use a single blank line after every paragraph, and do not indent

  4. The first line of the document should be the Title line. Set the font size on this line to 18pt, and "Center" the line.

  5. The second line of the document is the "By" line. Set the font size on this line to 14pt, and "Center" the line. Here is where you put the author's name. Generally, a pseudonym is used, to protect the author's privacy.

On this line are also the story codes. See the Story Codes page off the main Perverts R Us page for guidelines on how to specify them. They should only point out the highlights, things you want the reader to be aware of. You don't need to specify everything that happens in the story, just the few things that will draw attention. Set the font size to 12pt for the story codes and put them in parentheses. See any of the Perverts R Us stories for an example.

  6. If you want to include notes from the author (yourself) to the reader, Add them in the comment box on the story submit page.

  7. Keep text enhancements (i.e., bold, italics, size differences, underlining, etc.) to a bare minimum, or don't use them at all. They tend to be distracting if overused, and they slow down the formatting process.

  8. Spell-check and proofread your document! This is probably the easiest to do, and least utilized skill that our authors seem to have. A few minutes on your part up front will save hours of my time. Please take a moment to proofread your document, and use the spell-checker in your word processor, if you have one.

  9. A word about content. Perverts R Us is one of the more radical sites, in terms of content. However, we do have a couple of policies that we enforce. NO SNUFF (killing for eroticism) and NO PICTURES. Because most of the topics on the site are very controversial (rape, child/family sex, etc.), we're already "under the microscope" of the internet police. We operate within the law, as specified on the ASSTR FAQ page. Since we're already walking a razor's edge, we cannot allow content that would jeopardize our position (or send me to jail). I also would prefer no extreme violence or mutilation, but if the story has these and is tastefully written, I'll post it.

  10. Upload your document, using your author account via the story submit page.
